I've been writing my whole life, but it wasn't until 2008 that I began doing it for a living. Since then, I've had the opportunity to work for the Army as a journalist, which has truly been an eye-opening experience. I've gotten to go behind the scenes on countless training missions and have interviewed people ranging from four-star generals to celebrities like Gary Sinise.
Currently, I'm working on my first book. It's tentatively titled Why They Serve: The True Stories Behind the Americans Serving in the Global War on Terrorism. In it, I'll chronicle the lives of America's soldiers, sailors, airmen, marines and coasties who have served in support of the GWOT (yes, the Coast Guard is in Afghanistan, too.) I'll shed some light on who these amazing men and women are, and why they choose military service over so many other options out there.
When I'm not writing, I'm jogging or spending time with my husband and our two cats at our home in California.
